I recently got back into cycling – mainly for fitness, 10-20 miles a day – and decided that it was probably time to retire the second hand mt. bike I had bought on craigslist three years ago for $40 and upgrade to my very first non “department store bike” or “Bike Shaped Object.”
After much research and soul searching I opted to go with the Diamondback Maravista. Absolutely love this bike and could not be happier with my purchase. The ride is smooth, and very comfortable. My only complaints are the following:
- I don’t care for the pedals. They are cruiser pedals with no grip. If you plan on riding this bike at slow speeds…possibly barefoot…this won’t be an issue for you.
- Only one set of screws for mounting water bottles and other accessories.
Beyond those two minor criticisms, this is a great bike. The frame is relatively light, and the components are very solid (they are actually better than some of the other major brand hybrids I looked at within the same price point). Plus, this bike is absolutely gorgeous in gloss black.
Ultimately this bicycle is absolutely amazing, and I am looking forward to putting many, many, many miles on it in the coming years.
